From the National Weather Service for New York City issued Saturday night:
RADAR INDICATED BANDS OF HEAVY SNOW CONTINUING OVER NEW YORK CITYAND LONG ISLAND. THESE BANDS SHOULD START TO MOVE EAST...INTENSIFYFURTHER OVER CENTRAL LONG ISLAND...AND SPREAD NORTHEAST INTOSOUTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS.SNOWFALL RATES OF 2 TO LOCALLY 4 INCHES PER HOUR ARE LIKELY...ALONG WITH SOME RUMBLES OF THUNDER. WINDS IN THE HEAVIEST SNOWWILL ALSO GUST UP TO 40 MPH...CREATING BLIZZARD CONDITIONS AND VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. TRAVEL IS NOT RECOMMENDED.
Good thing I do not have to drive anywhere tonight. Too bad my cousin and her family are stranded in Chicago!
